Mahalo

Mahalo was a Honolulu-based company that developed a human-powered search engine. It was founded in 2007 by Jason Calacanis, and it relied on a team of human researchers who manually curated search results. Mahalo aimed to provide higher-quality search results for users, with a focus on popular topics and obscure queries that might not be well-served by algorithmic search engines. The company also produced original content, such as how-to guides and instructional videos, to supplement its search results. Mahalo was shut down in 2014 and its assets were sold to another company.
