Ron Hose
Ron Hose is a renowned entrepreneur, investor, and cryptocurrency enthusiast. He is the founder and CEO of Coins.ph, a mobile payments and remittance platform based in the Philippines. The platform allows users to transform their mobile phones into virtual wallets, enabling them to send and receive money, pay bills, buy mobile load, and purchase digital currencies like Bitcoin and Ether.
Hose became interested in cryptocurrency in 2013 and saw it as a way to provide financial inclusion to the unbanked and underserved populations in the Philippines, where more than 70% of the population does not have access to a bank account. In 2014, he launched Coins.ph, which quickly grew to become one of the most successful fintech startups in Southeast Asia. In 2019, Coins.ph was acquired by Go-Jek, a leading Indonesian ride-hailing and super app platform.
Before founding Coins.ph, Hose was an Executive-in-Residence at Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Redpoint Ventures, where he evaluated investment opportunities in Southeast Asia. He was also the COO of TokBox, a video communications platform that was later acquired by telecommunications giant Telefónica.
Hose is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Computer Science. He has a strong passion for technology and innovation and is a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences. In addition to his work at Coins.ph, Hose is an angel investor and advisor to several technology startups and is actively involved in various philanthropic initiatives in the Philippines.
